California Poetry Out Loud State Finals -- Monday, March 15, 2010 This year marks the second time the Senate Chambers will be the venue for the California Poetry Out Loud state finals. Policy debates and politics will be replaced by poetry recitations on Monday, March 15, 2010, as California county Poetry Out Loud finalists compete. The program starts at 8:30 a.m. and is expected to finish at approximately 12:30 p.m. The competition will be vide-recorded and then broadcast by The California Channel -- quite possibly as a live webcast. Our "Arts in the Media" section also has the media round-up of the county contests throughout the state. NEA Chair to Visit California Cities March 13-19 In his latest stops on the Art Works tour across America, scheduled for March 13-19, National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Rocco Landesman will visit San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Oakland, California. The chairman is traveling to these cities to learn how the arts work in California communities with a particular focus on the role of the arts in education and in creating and sustaining livable, vibrant urban centers.
