Whimsical social networking challenge between California and Arizona gets national attention When Craig Watson, Director of the California Arts Council, met the head of the Arizona Commission on the Arts at a national meeting that just happened to take place on California Arts Day (October 7), he tossed out a fun contest idea: which state arts agency could get to 10,000 "likes" on their Facebook page first? Muriel Johnson wins Lifetime Achievement Award On October 14, the arts and business community gathered to select honorees who have contributed significantly to the arts in the greater Sacramento region. The highest honor, the Arts & Business Council of Sacramento's award for lifetime achievement, went to Muriel Johnson, Director of the California Arts Council from 2005-2011. Congratulations, Muriel!
