October a Good Month for "Arts Council Fund" Of the first ten months of 2011, it was October's state tax filers who individually proved the most generous in their contributions to the Arts Council Fund. The month's 345 contributors donated $5,016 or $14.54 each. Their donations pushed the overall fund well over the $160,000 mark. We enthusiastically thank all contributors and those arts organizations who promoted this new funding source. NEA Awards Grants - CA Well-Represented California was well-represented when the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) announced its grantees for the Arts Works program and for Creative Writing Fellowships. At 140 grantees and $3,681,000, the state received 17 percent of all monies granted and 17 percent of awards, including four of the 40 very competitive creative writing fellowships given nationwide. Overall, the NEA made 863 grants for $22,543,000. Arts in the Media
