California's Juan Felipe Herrera Named U.S. Poet LaureateFrom California Poet Laureate to U.S. Poet Laureate! Librarian of Congress James H. Billington announced yesterday the appointment of Juan Felipe Herrera as the Library's 21st Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry, for 2015-2016. In an interview about his appointment Herrera stated, "This appointment as poet laureate of the United States wouldn't have been possible without being at UC Riverside, the California Arts Council and Gov.
