Statewide Arts Convening on Sept 26 & 27 in Sacramento

CONFLUENCE 2016, a statewide arts conference, will be held September 26-27 at the Sacramento Convention Center, presented by the statewide service organization Californians for the Arts.  This year's theme is "Better Together - Best Practices from the Field." Last year's CONFLUENCE attracted more than 250 arts leaders to Sacramento from throughout California. Key influencers and decision-makers will join together again this year to share ideas and to learn from thought-leaders in the field.

With the support of the California Arts Council, the conference is able to provide a limited number of travel stipends to participants from outside the Sacramento area. Click here to learn more and to register.

California Cultural Districts: What's Next?

As you may be aware, new California legislation has empowered the California Arts Council to designate areas as state cultural districts. A cultural district is defined as a geographical area with a concentration of cultural facilities, creative enterprises, or arts venues.

We know that every city and town in California is different, and we want to ensure that California's first statewide cultural districts program is reflective of the unique realities, opportunities, and challenges that exist in communities large and small across our state.
