CREATIVE FORCES SUMMIT: SAN DIEGO REGION
DECEMBER 7, 2017

The California Arts Council was proud to coordinate, along with national and local partners, all-day arts and military summit exploring the connection between creative arts therapies in patient-centered care at military clinical sites and community-based arts programs that allow patients to continue exploring art practices as part of their healing process.

Creative Forces: NEA Military Healing Arts Network is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in partnership with the U.S. Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs, plus state and local arts agencies that serves the unique and special needs of military patients and veterans who have been diagnosed with traumatic brain injury and psychological health conditions, as well as their families and caregivers. Administrative support for the initiative is provided by Americans for the Arts.

The network places creative arts therapies at the core of patient-centered care in order to increase access to therapeutic arts activities for military personnel and their families in local communities. Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton is one of 11 national Creative Forces clinical sites.

The Creative Forces Summit featured presentations, performances, discussions, and networking in orderto foster collaboration between arts, community, and military representatives in supporting military and veteran families.
